BETTYE H. WHALEY
Beulaville—Bettye Hatch Whaley, 44, of 213 Lyman Road died Thursday in
an accident that also took the life of her mother, Lois H. Hatch, and a
sister-in-law, Rachel S. Hatch, both of Pink Hill. Whaley was a member of
Beulaville Baptist Church and a graduate of South Lenoir High School and
East Carolina University. She was a teacher at East Duplin High School.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday from Beulaville Baptist Church with Dr.
Robert Hunter officiating. Survivors include her husband, Danny Lewis
Whaley; a daughter, Kimberly Jane Whaley; two sons, Benjamin Lee
Whaley of the home and Christopher George Whaley of Atlantic Beach;
her father, Manly O. Hatch of Pink Hill; a sister Jane H. Smith of Clinton;
two brothers, Bill Hatch of Pine Knoll Shores and James Michael “Mike”
Hatch of Pink Hill; and her maternal grandmother, Ethel Hawthorne of
Donalds, S.C. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at
Community Funeral Home in Beulaville and other times at the home.
