Obituary of Bertie Lou Lanier Hatcher ~ 1983

Chinquapin - Mrs. Bertie Lou Lanier Hatcher, 77, died early Saturday 
morning at her residence, Route 1, Chinquapin after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the Edgerton Funeral 
Chapel in Beulaville conducted by Rev. Miss Georgianna Brabban. 
Burial will follow in the Tom Lanier Cemetery near Lyman.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Rovena) Stewart of 
Chinquapin; two sons, Earl Hatcher of Kenansville and Edward Hatcher of 
Hampton, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Bradham of Chinquapin; six 
grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two great-great-grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, Mrs. Hatcher was the daughter of the late Tom 
and Victoria Lanier and was the widow of the late Ellis Hatcher.
She was a lifelong resident of the Lyman Community and was a member of 
the Bethel Presbyterian Church.
The family received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 
will be at Mrs. Hatcher's residence Route 1, Chinquapin other times.
Casketbearers will be Anthony Hatcher, Dana Hatcher, Raymond Hatcher, 
Randy Smith, Mack Hunter, and Hugh Mack Hunter.
