Annie Southerland, 93; mother of county woman 

Annie Spencer Southerland, 93, of the Pinewood Home in Pink Hill, died 
Wednesday at Carteret General Hospital. 
A homemaker and a long-time member of the New Hope Baptist Church near 
Kinston, she was the mother of Louise Berg of Morehead City.
Other survivors include four sisters, Edna Kuehn of St. Louis, Mo., 
Nellie Jones and Helen Rouse, both of Kinston, and Dorothy Keel of 
Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one 
great-great-grandchild.
Her funeral was held graveside at 3 p.m. today at Pinelawn Memorial Park 
in Kinston.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be 
made to the James Southerland Fund at the New Hope Baptist Church, Pink 
Hill Highway, Kinston, N.C. 28501.
Arrangements were by Edwards Funeral Home of Kinston.
