Obituary of Annie Laurie Cavenaugh Batts ~ 1979

Wallace - Mrs. Annie Laurie Cavenaugh Batts, 58, of 402 E. Murphy St. died
Wednesday night in New Hanover Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Edgerton
Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. L.D. Munn and Rev. Reece Riggins.
Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
Surviving are her husband, William J. Batts; two daughters, Mrs. George
(Sandra) Worsley of Wallace and Mrs. Daltan (Gloria) Hayes of Lumberton;
two sons, Dwight Batts of Wilmington and Joseph Batts of Wallace; her
stepmother, Mrs. Ruby Adcox of Fayetteville; one sister, Mrs. Carolyn
Gibson of Richmond,Va.; one half-sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Herring of Burgaw;
one brother, Billy Cavenaugh of Aden, and 11 grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Willie and
Annie Laurie Ricks Cavenaugh. She was a beautician, having owned and
operated Laurie's Beauty Shop in Wallace, and was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Wallace.
Casketbearers will be David Godwin, Ford Rivenbark, H.S. Wait, Linwood
Hanchey, Thomas Townsend, Ben Jessup, William English and E.G. Warren.
The family will receive at their residence, 402 E. Murphy St., in Wallace.
