Know all men by these presents, that we Lewis Pipkin & David Keathley are held
and firmly bound unto his Excellency H.G. Burton Esquire, Captain-General,
Governor and Commander in Chief, in and over the said State, in the sum of
five hundred pounds, current money, to be paid to the said Governor, his
successors or assigns; to the which payment, well and truly to be made, we
bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and
severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this
17th day of Jan'y A.D. 1824.
The Condition of the above obigation is such, that the above bounden Lewis
Pipkin has made application for a license of marriage, to be celebrated
between him and Elizabeth Davis of the County aforesaid; now in case it should
not hereafter appear that there is any lawful cause or impediment to obstruct
such marriage, then the above obligation to be void - otherwise to remain in
full force and virtue.
