(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 229, 230, 231, & 232 Zachariah Gurganus To James Lanier Deed 300 acres The State of No. Carolina Duplin County This Indenture made this 17th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and ninety one Between James Lanier of Duplin County and Zachariah Gurganus of Onslow County and both of said State aforesaid Witnesseth that the said Zachariah Gurganus for and in consideration of the Sum of fifty pounds specie to him in hand pay by the said James Lanier the Receipt whereof he the said Zachariah Gurganus doth hereby acknowledge himself to be therewith fully contented satisfied and payd and every part thereof doth freely and abslutely acquit exonarate and Discharge him the said James Lanier his heirs and assigns forever I have given granted bargained sold and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell alienate exfeoffe convey assign and forever make over and confirm unto him the said James Lanier his heirs and assigns a certain plantation Tract or Parcel of Land containing Three Hundred acres Lying and being in our County of Duplin on the North side of Cypress Creek Begining at a white oak in the Bent of the said Creek at the edge of the swamp at the Lower end of Mosse neck thence No. 110 poles to a small pine thence East 310 poles to a pine near a pond thence So. 155 poles thence Wt. 310 poles thence No. 45 poles to the first station To have & to hold unto the said James Lanier his heirs and assigns forever together with all improvements appurtainances and Previledges therein to and to the only proper use benefeit and behalf of him the said James Lanier his heirs, Executors, administrators & assigns forever and the said Zachariah Gurganus doth for himself his heirs executors & administrators covenant grant & agree to and with him the said James Lanier his heirs and assigns that he and they from time to time and at all times forever hereafter hold use occupy possess and enjoy the aforesaid bargained premises and every part and parcel thereof without the Least Interruption molistation or hindrance of Him the said Zachariah Gurganus his heirs or assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever and further that he the said Zachariah Gurganus his heirs excr. admr. & assigns, shall & will from time to time & at all times forever hereafter, made do & Execute at the reasonable of him the said James Lanier his heirs or assigns, all such further conveyances and apurance in the Law for the more perfect apuring & conveying the aforesaid Land & premises unto the said James Lanier his heirs and assigns forever as by the said James Lanier Attorney Learned in the Law shall be devised advised or requires, and lastly that he the said Zachariah Gurganus his heirs Executors admtrs. shall & will forever hereafter warrant & defend the aforesaid piece of Land with the appurtenances premnises and previledges thereunto belonging or any way appurtaining unto him the said James Lanier his heirs Execurs admr. & assigns against all manner of former gifts, grants, sales, leases uses wills dowers intails covenants mortgages or judgments or other incumbrances what nature or kind fo ever by me the said Zariah Gurganus or any other person or persons whatsoever or whomever laying any Lawful claim thereunto or any part or parcel thereof in as full and ample a manner as any Land are holden in this State. In Witness whereof I the said Zachariah Gurganus hath hereunto set my hand & fixed my seal this day & year first above written. signed sealed & delivered In presence of us Zachariah Gurganus Henry Mashburn Benja Mashburn State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proven in open Court by the oath of Henry Mashburn & ordered to be registered.
