William & Nancy Hunter to Owen Brown 203 acres
Be it known that I, William Hunter, of the County of Duplin & State of North Carolina for &
in consideration of the sum of Three hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Owen Brown at &
before the sealing & signing of these presents, the receipt & payment whereof is hereby
acknowledged, have bargained sold aliened enfeoffed & confirmed & do hereby bargain sell
enfeoff & confirm unto the said Owen Brown his heirs & assigns forever a certain piece or
parcel of land lying & being in the County of Duplin & on the East side of Muddy Creek
Beginning at a black Spruce the beginning corner of a tract of land said to be patented by
John Brown & running thence N 80 E 84 poles to a pine the second corner or nearest of said
Browns survey or beginning corner of a tract patented by Charles Bostick & running thence N
30 E 174 poles to a pine in the line of a survey patented by John Woodward & marked for a
corner of a piece of said survey conveyed to John Brown thence in a line S 7 E 132 poles
crossing a small branch to a Chinquapin Tree, thence S 87 W 200 poles to a pine on the line
of John Brown’s old survey thence N 77 W 100 poles to a to a gum on Muddy Creek Swamp, thence
swamp line meanders to the first station containing by estimation two hundred & three acres
be the same more or less being a part of a tract patented by John Brown the __ day of __ part
of a tract of __ acres patented by Jno Woodward the __ day of __ . All which lands premises
land tenements & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any ways to me the said William
Hunter doth for myself my heirs Exrs & admrs warrant & forever defend to the said Owen Brown
his heirs & assigns forever free & clear from the just & lawful claim or claims of me the said
William Hunter my heirs Exr & admr & from any other person or persons whatever to the only
proper use benefit & behoof of the said Owen Brown to have & to hold. In testimony whereof I
the said William Hunter doth hereunto set my hand & affix my seal October 28th day 1817.
