William Holland to James Sullivan 529 acres

This indenture made this the 6th day of April in the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand 
Eight Hundred and Thirty Five and the 59th year of our Independence of the United States 
between William Holliday of the County of Green and State of North Carolina of the one 
part and James Sullivan of the County of Duplin and Sate aforesaid of the other part.  
Witness that for and in consideration of the sum of twenty hundred dollars to the said 
William Holliday in hand paid by James Sullivan at or before Sealing and delivery of 
these presents that where of is acknowledged there of to be there with fully satisfied 
contented and paid have given granted bargained and sold confirmed conveyed aligned
enforced and set over unto James  Sullivan his heirs and assigns the following mentioned 
tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county of Duplin and State aforesaid 
on the east side of the road leaving from White Hall to Kenansville and on the west side of
Lodd’s Branch beginning at a poplar in Lodd’s Branch and runs No. 71 Wt. 250 poles to a 
pine and blackjack by the road side to Loftin’s Corner thence along the road and Loftins 
line So. 13 Wt. 110 poles then So. 41 Wt. along the road 84 poles thence along the road 
south 33 Wt. 74 Poles to a black gum Edmund Walker’s Corner thence with his line So. 
10 Et 121 poles to a Lightwood Tree and Pine his corner and Daniel Hines thence So. 16 
East along the road 55 poles to Brocks Path thence south 71 east nearly with said path 
103 poles to a Blackjack Hannah Dobson’s Corner thence N. 25 Et. 47 Poles to a stake
in a meadow thence east 99 poles crossing Lodds Branch to a pine on
The side of the hill thence No. 43 wt. crossing said branch 128 poles to a blackjack thence 
No. 50 Et. 146 poles to a poplar on the run of Lodd’s Branch against the mouth of Punch 
Bowl Branch thence down the run of said branch as it meanders to the beginning also one 
other piece lying and being in the County and State aforesaid on the East side of the Poley 
Bridge Branch beginning at a stake  at Poley Bridge and Grimsley’s Line No. 35 Et. 42 
poles to a pine his corner and with his other line No. 25 Wt. 65 pole to a pine and Joseph 
Whitfield’s corner thence with Whitfield’s line West 60 poles to the run of Poley Bridge 
thence up the run of Poley Bridge as it meanders to the Beginning containing in both 
pieces five hundred and forty seven acres to have and to hold the before bargained land 
and premises freely acquitted and discharged of and from all manner of encumbrance or 
encumbrances whatsoever with all privileges or advantages opportunity and hereditary 
therein belonging or in any wise ascertaining to him the said James Sullivan his heirs Exec. 
Admin or assigns forever and the said William Holliday doth for his part bind and oblige 
himself his heirs Exec admin and assigns to warrant secure and forever defend the before 
bargained land and premises free and clear of and from the just and lawful claim or demand 
of all and every other person or persons whatsoever claiming any right title interest use trust 
or property in the same or any part or parcel thereof in witness whereof the said William 
Holliday have here unto set his hand and seal day and year first written.
