(Transcribed by Diane Siniard) Deed Book E Page 101, & 102 William Underhill to Hardy Thomas Deed 200 acres This Indenture made the second day of December and In the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and Eighty eight. Between William Underhill of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina Planter of the one part and Hardy Thomas of the other part of the County of Duplin and State aforesaid Planter. Witnesseth that the said William Underhill for and In Consideration of the sum of fifty Eight Pounds specie to him in hand paid by the said Hardy Thomas the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself to be fully satisfied contented and paid and hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth Grant Bargain and sell unto the said Hardy Thomas one certain tract or parcel of Land containing by estimation two hundred acres be the same more or less lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the north side of Goshen swamp and Bound as follows Viz. John Cartyr, and Thomas Wiggins and John Daniels line. Begining at a black jack and white oak by a Pond John Carlys corner, thence along said Carlys line So. 20 Wt. 160 poles to a hickory Thomas Wiggins corner thence along John Daniels line North 82 Et. 42 poles to a pine by a Branch thence as his line So. 41 Et. 62 poles to a stooping pine his corner thence Et. 142 poles to a pine in a pond or Drain of Dobbs County the head of the watery Branch thence No. 136 pole to a red oak thence to the begining. To have and to hold the aforesaid Tract of Land or parcel and premises with the appurtainances thereunto belonging to the said Hardy Thomas his heirs and assigns forever to the only use and behoofe of him the said Hardy Thomas his heirs and assigns forever and I the said William Underhill for myself my heirs and assigns do covenant grant and agree to and with the said Hardy Thomas his heirs and assigns that the said Tract or parcell of Land and every part and parcel thereof against the Right Title and Claim and Demand of all and all manner of persons forever to warrant and Defend In witness whereof I the said William Underhill hath hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first written. signed sealed and Delivered William Underhill in the presence of use as witness John Daniel Fredrick Thomas State of No. Carolina Duplin County January Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of Fredrick Thomas and ordered to be Registered.
