(Transcribed by Diane Siniard) Deed Book 12 Page 154, & 155 William T Pearsall To Joseph A McGowen Deed 176 acres State of North Carolina Duplin County This Indenture made the 10 day of November AD 1838 between William T Pearsall and Joseph A McGowen both of the State and County aforesaid Witnesseth that the said WIlliam T Pearsall for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Joseph A McGowen be fore the sealing and delivery of these presents the payment of which sum is here by acknowledged have bargained and sold unto the said Joseph A McGowen his heirs and assigns a certain piece or parcil of land lying situate and being in the County of Duplin on the North side of Goshen opposite where the Blue run makes out of lower end of the Lake and runs across of the main run of said swamp and down the blue run as it meanders to a cypres and maple on said run Johnstons corner thence No 25 Et 36 poles to an ash on the main run of of Goshen Swamp thence up said run as it meanders as No 80 Wt 56 poles to a cypres stump on the old footway thence up said run as it meanders as St 80 Wt 66 poles to a maple Williams Branches corner thence along Branches line No 36 Et 150 poles to a pine his other corner thence his other line No 20 Et 111 poles to a pine stump and red oak by the old main Road thence along the road No 43 Wt 40 poles then the road continued No 42 Wt 49 poles to a stake then South 46 Wt 54 poles to a black gum in the head of Wile Cat Branch then So 16 Wt 230 poles to a maple on the lake in goshen Swamp then down the Lake as it meanders to the begining containing one hundred and Seventy six acres be the same more or less the right and title of the aforesaid discribed lands I the said William T Pearsall do hereby warrent and for ever defend to the said Joseph A McGowen his heirs and assigns for ever free and clear from me my heirs executors and assigns and from the lawful claim or claims of any and every person what so ever In witness whereof I have unto set my hand and seal this the day and year first above written signed sealed & delivered in present of us William T Pearsall James Dickson John Carr State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions January Term 1840 the Execution of the with in deed is duly proved in open court by the oath of James Dickson a subscribing witness there to and is ordered to be registered Test James Dickson Clk Copy N Routledge Regr by E M Routledge
