(Transcribed by Diane Siniard) Deed Book E Page 159, 160, & 161 William Sullavin and his wife To Curling Smith Deed 100 acres This Indenture made this seven day of August and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety and in the fourteenth year of American Independence Between William Sullavin of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina of the one part and Curling Smith of the County of Norfolk & state of Virginia of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Sullavin for and In consideration of one Hundred pounds Current money of the State to him In hand paid by the said Curling Smith the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge he hath granted bargained sold aliend released and confirmed and by these presents for Himself and his heirs doth grant bargain sell alien release and confirm untot he said Curling Smith to his heirs and assigns forever a certain parcel of Land containing one hundred acres more or less lying and being in the County and State aforesaid in Goshen swamp Begining at John Winderses upper Corner In Goshen Swamp Thence runing a Direct Course of marked trees to the centre of three wite oaks standing in the said William Sullavants out side line by the side of the path at Ward Forde thence along said line to the upper corner a murtle and maple standing the mouth of cross Branch thence No. 40 Et. 100 pole to a maple his corner on the main run in Goshen swamp called Ragers Lake thence Down the run as it meanders to John Winderses upper corner in Goshen being Part of Tract Patened by the said William Sullavan together with all houses gardens fences woods and underwoods waters and water courses thereon standing growing Being with all profits commodities advantages and appurtainances whatsoever to the same belonging or in any wise appartaining and every part & parcel thereof to have and hold said one hundred acres as above bounded with their and every of their appurtainances unto the said Curling Smith his heirs and assigns forever he the said William Sullavan for himself and his heirs Doth covenant grant and agree to and with the said Curling Smith his heirs and assigns that he and they shall may at all times hereafter peaceable & Quitly hold and Enjoy the said granted land and premises free and clear from all former gifts grants mortgages Rights of Dower or anyother Incumberances whatsoever he the said William Sullavan and his heirs shall and will warrant and forever Defend the said granted Land and premises with their appertaintainances unto said Curling Smith his heirs and assigns against all and every other person or persons whatsoever claiming by him or under him or them or any of them unto said Curling Smith his heirs and assigns forever In whereof the said William Sullavint hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the Day and year above written. signed sealed and Delivered in the Presence of us William Sullavan Lee Sullavans Talitha Sullavan William Sullavans State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1791 There was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of Lee Sullavin and ordered to be Registered.
