William Stoaks To Major Croom
Deed for 72 acres of lands
This indenture made this first day of December in the year or our Lord one thousand
seven hundred & eighty four, between William Stoaks of Duplin County in the State of North
Carolina of the one part, and Major Croom of Dobbs County and State of No. Carolina of the
other part, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds money
of No. Carolina to him in hand paid by the said Major Croom, before the sealing and delivery
hereof, the rect. whereof the said William Stokes doth hereby acknowledge, granted bargained
sold aleinated released conveyed and confirmed & by these presents doth grant bargain sell
alienate convey & confirm unto him the said Major Croom a tract or parcel of land containing
seventy two acres, being part of a tract of land granted to Michael & Robert Dickson.
Begining at a water oak on the first line of said patten standing at the south of the dividing
line made between said Croom & Stokes & runs So. 55 Et. 100 poles to a pine patten corner,
thence Et. 40 pole to a water oak, thence No. 160 pole to the dividing line, thence with the
same South 50 Wt. 166 pole to the begining, together with all easements profits advantages
emoluments & appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining, with the revertion
and revertions rents issues & profits, also the rights titles interest properties claims &
demand of him the said William Stokes in or to this same in any manner whatsoever. To have &
to hold the aforesaid tract or percel of land & premises aforesaid with appurtenances and
every part & parcel to him the said Major Croom his heirs and assigns, to the only proper use
benefit & behoor of him the said Major Croom his heirs and assigns forever & the said William
Stokes for himself his heirs executors administrators doth covenant and grant to & with the
said Major Croom his heirs and assigns, shall and may from hence fourth forever hereafter have
hold occupy possess and enjoy all and singular the above mentioned parcel of land and premises
with the appertenances without least trouble hinderance molestation or interuption or denial of
him the said William Stokes his heirs executors administrators or assigns, & of all and every
other person or persons whatsoever, free and clear of and from all incimbrances whatsoever to
the said Major Croom his heirs and assigns forever. In withness whereof I the said William
Stokes have set my hand & seal the day & year above written.
