(Transcribed by Diane Siniard) Deed Book 1 A Page 306, & 307 William & Robert Dickson To William Dickson Deed for 540 acres lands This indenture made the thirteeth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, in the ninth year of the American Independence etc. Between William Dickson & Robert Dickson of the County of Duplin in the State of North Carolina of the one part, and William Dickson of the same place on the other part, Witnesseth, that the said William Dickson & Robert Dickson for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds current money to them in hand well and truly paid by the said William Dickson the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, and themselves to be fully satisfied contented & paid & of every part and parcel thereof do acquit and discharge the said William Dickson his heirs & executors & administrators by these presents they the said William & Robert Dickson have given granted & sold to the said William Dickson his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in Duplin County aforesaid on the west side of the No. Et. River, between Persimmon swamp and Stockinghead swamp on both sides of Poley Branch. Begining at a pine the corner of land sold to Phillip Rouse, and runs along his line No. 55 Wt. 100 pole to Rouse's other corner, thence So. 35 Wt. 160 pole to a red oak Rouse's other corner, thence along John Miller's line No. 55 Wt. 240 pole to a pine at Andrew Rouse's line, thence No. 450 pole to a pine by Persimmon swamp, and thence a straight line to the begining, & containing in the whole five hundred and forty acres of land, it being part of a patent granted tot he said William Dickson & Robert Dickson for 640 acresa bearing date the fourth day of May 1769, reference being thereunto had may more fully appear etc., all which premises we the said William Dickson & Robert Dickson by these presents do fully freely & absolutely give grant bargain sell and convey to the said William Dickson his heirs and assigns forever & further do hereby covent & engage to and with the said William Dickson to warrant and secure and defend the quiet & peaceble possession of the above granted premises from and againsts all manner of claim or demands whatsoever that can or may be made for the same or any part thereof, by from or under us or any of us, our heirs executors, admins. or assigns. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands & seals the day and date first above written. W.
