(Transcribed by Diane Siniard) Deed Book E Page 401, 402, & 403 William Rigby To James Quinn Deed 110 acres This Indenture made this first Day of june in the twelth year of American Independence and in the year of our Lord Christ on thousand seven hundred and Eighty Eight. Between William Rigby of the State of No. Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and James Quinn of the same place of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Rigby for Divers good causes and Considerations him thereunto Moving but more Especially for the Love and Regart which he Doth Bear unto his Son In Law James Quinn and for his advancement in life as also for and in Consideration of the sum of twenty shillings Current money of the State aforesaid to him in hand well and truly paid before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by these presents given granted bargained sold assigned and set over to the said James Quinn his heirs and assigns forever one Certain Tract Lot or parcel of Land situate lying and being in Duplin County aforesaid on the So. Side of the Grove Swamp and So. South side of Horse Branch and on both side of the Mile Branch Beginning at a Bunch of persimmon saplins at the Run of Horse Branch at the Mouth of a Miry Drain thence up the upper Edge of said Drain So. 25 Wt. 162 poles to a stake in a Bottom on the line of a Survey of Five hundred acres that was Patened by Felix Kenan thence that line No. 62 Et. 138 poles to a stake Lower Edge of the Mile Branch said Rigbys Corner thence his line So. 42 Et. 13 poles to a Black jack his corner thence his other line No. 66 Et. 58 to a large white oak on the swamp Edge thence the same Course Contd. 12 poles to a Maple and ashe at the creek thence up the Meanders of the Creek to the Mouth of Horse Branch thence up the meanders of horse Branch Run to the first station Containing by Survey and Estimation one hundred and ten acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid Land and premises to him the said James Quinn his heirs and assigns forever free from all Incumbrances whatsoever given granted or done by him the said William Rigby and the said William Rigby the aforesaid Land and premises to him the said James Quinn his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever Defend from and against him the said William Rigby his heirs and assigns as also from and against the just and Lawfull Claim of all and every other person or persons whatever who may hereafter Lay Lawfull Claim to the same In Witness whereof the said William Rigby hath hereunto set his hand and seal at Duplin the Date above written. Signed Sealed and Delivered In the presence of us William Rigby Joseph Dickson James Middleton State of No. Carolina Duplin County January Term 1792 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of Joseph Dickson and ordered to be Registered.
