William Picket Senr. to William Picket junr. Deed 13 February 1786

(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 395, 396, & 397 William Picket Senr. to William Picket junr. Deed for 250 acres lands No. Carolina Duplin County. To all to whom these presents shall come greeting. Know ye that I William Picket senr. of the County and province aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of ninety seven pounds to me in hand paid by William Picket junr. of the County & province aforesaid planter, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, and myself therewith fully satisfied contented & paid whereby I have given granted bargained & sold aliened enfeoffed and confirmed, and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien enfeoffe counance & confurm unto the said William Picket junr. his heirs exrs. admns. or assigns forever, two certain tract of land sittuate lying & being in Duplin County & province aforesaid, on the east side of Capre Fear River, and known by the name of Indian Groves. Begining at a pine above the mouth of Cypress Creek & runing down the River swamp to a white oak in a branch, thence up the branch to a pine on the hill side, thence to a corner pine in Murray line, thence to a branch near Roadses old field, thence to the begibning, (fifty acres) more or less. The other tract of land begining at a water oak on the bank of the river at the mouth of Cypress Creek, and run Et. 30 pole to a stake in his own line, thence along his own line No. 46 pole to a pine his corner by Cypress Creek, thence up a small branch joining his line Et. 100 pole to a pine at half line, thence crossing the creek No. 20 Wt. 200 pole to a pine, thence No. 57 Wt. 100 pole to a water oak on the River Bank by the mouth of a small branch, thence down the River as it meanders to the begining, containing two hundred acres by patent 1765. To have and to hold forever the said granted and bargained premises, with all houses orchards gardens woods under woods water & water courses thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining & all other livgerties & previledges thereunto belonging to him the said William Picket junr. his heirs or assigns, to his & their porper use & behoofe forever, and I the said William Picket senr. for myself my heirs executors admns. do promise that before the ensealing hereof I am the true and lawfull owner of the above bargained premises, and am lawfully sessed of the same my own proper righty profit & absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple, & have in myself good right & full power & lawfull authority to grant bargain sell convey and confirm the said bargained premises in manner aforesaid & the said William Picket junr. him his heirs exrs. admns. or assigns shall and may from time to time & at all times forever hereafter by force and virtue of these presents lawfully peacebly have hold use occupie possess and enjoy the said premises & bargained premises forever, I do warrant the same to the said William Picket junr. him his heirs executors administrators or assigns against the lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever laying any righty title or claim thereunto. In witness whereof I have set my hand & fixed my seal this thirteenth day of February, one thousand seven hundred & eighty six. William Picket James Murray junr. James Murray Senr.
