(Transcribed by Diane Siniard) Deed Book 1 A Page 412, & 413 William O'Daniel To William Whitfield Deed for 200 acres land To all to whom these presents shall come greeting. Know ye that I William O'Daniel of the County of Duplin and State of No. Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds specie to me in hand paid by William Whitfield of the County of Wayne and State aforesaid, the receipt whereof I do acknowledge myself therewith fully satisfied contented & paid & of every part and parcel thereof and do by these presents acquit exonerate & discharge the said William Whitfield his heirs executors & admns. forever do freely fully and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto him the said William Whitfield his heirs and assigns forever, a certain parcel of land lying on the No. Side of the No. East Creek & west side of Jumping run in the County of Duplin. Begining at a pine of Jumping run marsh a corner tree of Jesse Barfields patent dated the 15th Decr. 1778. and runs down the said Jumping run & marsh to the mouth of Rooty Branch, thence up Rooty Branch to the second line of the siad patent being the line of another patent granted to the said Barfield also, thence along that line South 40 Wt. to a pine a corner of the said two pattens, thence across the above dated patent along a line of marked trees Theophilus Williams' line, now the said Whitfield's line to the back line of the said patent, thence along that line No. 78 Et. to the begining, including part of the aforesaid two patents of land and the plantation whereon Charity O'Daniel formerly lived, containing by estimation two hundred acres be the same more or less, togeather with all ways waters & water courses houses buildings & improvements unto the same belonging. To have and to hold the said granted and bargained premises with all the previledges appurtenances & commodities unto the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said William Whitfield his heirs and assigns forever, to his & their only proper use benefit & behoofe, and I the said William O' Daniel for me my heirs exers. and administrators do covenant promise & grant to and with the said William Whitfield his heirs and assigns, that before the sealing & delivery hereof I am the true sole & lawfull owner of the above bargained premises in fee simple, and am lawfully seized & possessed of the same in mine own and proper right, by virtue of a deed from Stephen Barfield, and that the said William Whitfield his heirs & assigns may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter by virtue of these presents quietly, peacebly and lawfully have hold occupie possess & enjoy the above bargained premises ffree and clear from all incumbrances of whatsoever nature of kind forever & I the said William O'Daniel doth covenant and agree to warrant and forever defend the above bargained premises to him the said William Whitfield & his heirs & assigns forever, against me and my heirs or assigns and any other person whatsoever laying lawfull claim to the same. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal the 28th day of December 1785. William O'Daniel Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of John Ivey John Barfield Bryan Whitfield State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1787.
