(Transcribed by Diane Siniard) Deed Book 1 A Page 225, & 226 William Moore To Felix Frederick Deed for 2 pieces lands This indenture made this twentieth day of October in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, & in the tenth year of American Independence, between William Moore of the State of No. Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part, & Felix Frederick of same place of the orther part. Witnesseth that the said William Moore for divers good causes & consideration him thereunto moving, but more especially for the consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds current money of the State of No. Carolina to him in hand paid by Felix Frederick aforesaid before the ensealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof he the said William Moore doth hereby acknowledge & himself to be therewith fully satisfied contented & paid & of every part & parcel thereof doth hereby acquit and forever discharge the said Felix Frederick his heirs assigns forever and hath by these presents given granted bargained & sold confirmed to the said Felix Frederick aforesaid, two certain tract or parcels of lands the one situate lying & being & being in the State aforesaid & County of Duplin on the south side of Goshen Swamp & on a branch of Bear branch joining Mr. Henry McCulloch's land. Begining at a Hickory by his line runing thence So. 11 Wt. 25 chains to a white oak, thence So. 65 Et. 40 chains to a pine, thence No. 11 Et. 25 chains to a white oak, thence to the first station containing one hundred acres of land be the same more or less, as by the demention of the patent granted to Thomas Kenan for one hundred of land be the same more or less, bearing date the twenty fourth day of September in the year or our Lord 1754. To have & to hold all the within granted land and premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining of every nature or kind whatsoever to him the said Felix Frederick his heirs & assigns forever, as also the other certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the State & County aforesaid, containing one hundred and fifty acres of land adjoining the above bargained land and premises. Begining at a Hickory the above said William Moores corner and runs No. fifteen Et. 22 pole to a pine, Felix Frederick's corner, thence along his line Wt. 70 pole to a pine John Moore's corner, thence along his line No. 23 Et. 60 pole to a pine, thence Et. 100 pole to a pine, thence So. 65 Et. 160 pole to a lightwood stump, thence So. 150 pole to a pine on Thomas Phips's line, thence Wt. 66 pole, thence with William Moor's line No. 11 Et. 40 pole, and thence along his other line to the begining, as by platt hereunto annehed doth appear & partial granted to the above said William Moore, bearing date the tenth day of November in the ninth year of our Independence & in the year of our Lord 1784. To have and to hold the above bargained land & premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining of every nature or kind whatsoever to him the said Felix Frederick his heirs and assigns, free and clear from all former gifts grants mortgages intails dowers or Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of us William Frederick William Southerland State of North Carolina Duplin County January Court 1786.
