(Transcribed by Diane Siniard) Deed Book E Page 282, 283, & 284 William Messer To William Nethercut Deed 100 acres This Indenture made the Eight day of August in the tenth year of American Independence and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and Eighty six. Between William Messer of the state of no. Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and William Nethercut of same place of the other part witnesseth that the said William Mercer for and in Diverse good causes and consideration him thereunto moving but more expecially for the valuable consideration of the sum of thirteen pounds specie to him in hand well and truly paid by William Nethercut aforesaid befor the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge to be therewith fully contented and paid hath by these presents given granted bargained sold assinged and set over to the William Nethercut his heirs and assigns forever one certain Tract or parcel of Land situated lying and being in Duplin County aforesaid on the East side of the north East River and both sides of hors Branch and Tapmans Branch begining at a pine So. side of Tapmans Branch John Mercers upper corner thence as his line No. 50 Et. 100 poles to a pine, thence crossing the Branch with his other line no. 31 Wt. 60 pole to a pine on his old line thence along the same crossing hors Branch no. 55 Et. 148 poles to a pine thence along Calop Quinns line Et. 28 poles to a pine thence along Nethercuts line a cross the Branch So. 62 poles to a pine thence along an old line So. 40 WT. 290 poles thence no. 40 Wt. 70 poles to a stake thence to the begining containing in the whole one Hundred acres be the same more or Less. To have and to hold the aforesaid Land and premises with all the appurtainances to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining of Every nature and kind whatsoever to him the said William Nethercut his heirs and assigns forever free from all former gifts grants mortgages Intails powers Rights or Titles of Dower or any other Incumbrance whatever given granted or con by him the said William Messer or any other person whatever by from or under him and the said Willaim Messer the aforesaid Land and premises shall and will warrant and forever Defend to him the said William Nethercut his heirs and assigns forever from and against him the said William Nethercut his heirs and assigns from and against the just and Lawfull Claim of any other person or persons whatever who may hereafter lay and Lawfull Claim to the same and the said William Nethercut the aforesaid Land and premises shall and may have hold use occupy enjoy and passess as his own free and Lawfull Inheritance free from all Incumbrances whatsoever the taxes as they may hereafter become Due only Excepted. In witness whereof the said William Messer hath hereunto set his and seal the Date above written. Signed sealed and Delivered In Presence of William Messer Calop Quinn William Nethercut Junior State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of Caleb Quinn and ordered to be Registered.
