William Kenan To Felix Frederick
Deed for 100 acres lands
This indenture made this twentieth day of September one thousand seven hundred and
eighty five, & in the tenth year of the American Independency. Between William Kenan planter
of Duplin County and State aforesaid and Felix Frederick planter of the other part of the
County and State aforesaid. Witnesseth that the said William Kenan for and in consideration
of the just and full sum of one hundred pounds current money to him in hand paid by the said
Felix Frederick the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath granted bargained sold
aliend released & confirmed and by these presents for himself & his heirs doth bargain sell
alien release and confirm unto the said Felix Frederick & to his heirs and assigns forever,
a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County aforesaid on both
sides of the Big Branch. Begining at a white oak John Moon's corner, and runs with his line
No. 19 Et. 120 pole to a pine, thence Wt. 98 pole to a pine & red oak a corner of John Moon's
other survey, thence along said Moon's other line So. 25 Wt. 44 pole to water oak his other
corner in the branch, thence along John Bell's line So. 70 Wt. 62 pole to a white oak, then
So. 60 pole to a white oak, thence to the begining containing in the whole one hundred acres
of land as by record will appear, bearing date 30th od September 1768, togeather with all
houses gardens fences woods under woods waters & water courses thereon standing growing &
being with all profits commodities & advantages & appurtenances whatsoever to the same
belonging or in any wise appertaining and also the reversion & thereof. To have and to hold
the said one hundred acres of land as above bounded with their & every of their appurtenances
to the said Felix Frederick his heirs & assigns to the only use of the said Felix Frederick
his heirs and assigns forever & he the said William Kenan for his self and his heirs doth
covenant grant and agree to and with the said Felix Frederick his heirs and assigns, that
he and they shall at all times hereafter peacebly & quietly hold and enjoy the said granted
land and premises free & clear from all former sails gifts grants mortgages rights of dower
or any other incumbrance whatsoever & he the said William Kenan & his heirs shall and will
well & truly and forever defend the said granted land & premises with the appurtenances
unto the said Felix Frederick his heirs & assigns against all and every other person or
persons whatsoever claiming by from or under him or them or any of them unto the said Felix
Frederick his heirs or assigns forever. In witness whereof the said the said William Kenan
hath hereunto set his hand & fixed his seal the day and date above written.
