William Turnage Deed 348 Acres
To
Jessie Turnage
Know all men by these presents that I William Turnage of the County of Duplin
and state of North Carolina for in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred and
Ninety Six dollars to me in hand paid by Jessie Turnage of the County and State
aforesaid the receipt I do hereby acknowledge do hereby give, grant sell and
convey unto the said Jessie Turnage a certain tract and parcel of land lying on
the North side of Goshen and on the East side of Herring Marsh beginning at a
pine on the meadow branch, then South 11 West 248 Poles to a cypress by
Gavin’s ford, then along Grimes line to Daniel Herring’s line then along his line
to a pine by the spring. Then west to a gum on the Mill Run then up the run to
the dam, then to the East end of the dam, then up the pond 105 Poles to a pine,
then North 75 East 40 Poles to a Lightwood Pine then north 82 east 42 Poles to
a Jack, then south 79 east 184 Poles to a Water Oak on the run of the Meadow
Branch, then down the run of the branch to the beginning, including 348 Acres,
be the same more or less together with all the (illegible) and appertaining
thereunto belonging and I the said William Turnage for myself, my heirs assigns,
do warrant and forever defend the said land and premises to the said Jessie
Turnage, his heirs and assigns against the lawful claim of any person or persons,
except one and for the use of the Mill. In witness of I have hereunto set my hand
and fixed my seal this the 20th day of December 1828.
