William Hurst To William Burnam Deed 18 August 1784

(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 122, & 123 William Hurst To William Burnam Deed for 150 acres lands North Carolina, Duplin County, Know all men by these presents that I William Hurst of the province and County aforesaid for & in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds specie money well & truly paid by William Burnam of the province & County aforesaid the receipt thereof I do hereby acknowledge & confess myself to be therewith fully satisfied contented and paid have granted bargained sold and conveyed and set over unto him the said William Burnam, one hundred acres of land be the same more or less, lying and being in the province and County aforesaid on the No. side of Goshen swamp, being part of a tract of land patend by John Beck, bearing date April the 27th 1767 & part of said land patented by John Carter, bearing date Novem. the 6th 1779, bounded as follows. Begining at a white oak & maple in the fork of Rattle Snake and No. Prong runing up the No. prong by a line of marked trees as it meanders to a sweet gum in the edge of a small pond, thence down a small branch as it meanders to rattle snake branch to a water oak, being an east course, thence down Rattle Snake branch to the first station as also fifty acres of land be the same more or less, being part of three hundred acres patented by John Carter, bearing date November the 6th 1779. Begining at a white oak William Underhill's corner, runing So. 20 Wt. 150 poles to a Hickory Wiggin's corner, thence along Wiging's line to Rattle snake branch, thence up the branch as it meanders to the uper paten line, thence to the first station. To have and to hold all and singular the above bargained premises with all the land and appertenances to the same belonging, to him the said William Burnam his heirs and assigns forever, and I the said William Hurst for myself my heirs executors administrators do covenant promise agree to & with him the said William Burnam his heirs & assigns that before the ensealing and delivery of these presents that I am the true sole and lawful owner of all the above bargained premises & land and I the said William Hurst for myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns do hereby warrent & forever defend the aforesaid with all the appertenances to the same belonging to him the said William Burnam his heirs and assigns forever, free from all incumbrances whatsoever, and likewise against the lawful claims of any person wharsoever, according to the true intent and meanin of these presents. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this 18th day of August and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty four. Wm.
