William Hurst To William Beck
Bill of sale for one negro
State of No. Carolina Duplin County. To all to whom these presents whall come greeting.
Know ye that I William Hurst of Wayne County & State aforesaid planter, for and in consideration
of the sum of two hundred pounds specie money to me in hand at and before the sealing & delivery
of these presents, by William Beck of the County aforesaid merchant, have bargained & sold unto
the said William his heirs & assigns forever, one negro fellow slave named Lewis about twenty
one years of age, which said negro fellow Lewis I the said William Hurst do warrant & defend to
the said William Beck his heirs and assigns, against the right title and claim of all and all
manner of persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal
this twenty fourth day of October 1786.

Then was the within Bill of sale proved in open Court by the oath of Samuel Slocumb & ordered
to be registered.
