(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 25, 26, 27, & 28 William Hall To Elisha Woodward Deed 300 acres This Indenture made this Twentieth day of July in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety, between William Hall of the County of Duplin and State of No. Carolina of the one part and Elisha Woodward of the same County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth, that the said William Hall for divers good causes and considerations him thereunto moving but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of ----- pounds to him in paid or secured to be paid before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and himself therewith to be fully satisfyed and contented and thereof & therefrom doth hereby acquit the aforesaid Elisha Woodward his Heirs Executors administrators and assigns Hath bargained sold Enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed and hath by these presents for himself his heirs Executors and administrators, hath and doth fully freely and absolutely bargain sell Enfeoffe convey and forever confirm unto the said Elisha Woodward his heirs and assigns, one certain Tract of parcel of Land Containing by Estimation Two hundred acres be the same more or Less, lying and being in the County of Duplin and State aforesaid & Begining on the North side of Stocking head branch Runing Thence No 73 Et. 100 poles to a pine thence So. 77 East 270 poles to a pine thence So thirteen East 120 poles to a pine then up the several courses of the swamp to the first station which land was sold from James Mills Rebecca Mills Leonard Mills to William Thall also a Tract of land containing one hundred acres on the North side of Maxwell swamp and both sides of stocking head Begining at a white oak John Whitmans corner thence his line North Forty five East one hundred and ninety six poles to a Red oak thence along Adam Plats line North thirty five East Eighty poles to a pine thence South Seventy East Eighty pole to a pine by his own corner thence as or near to his line South Forty East one hundred and Eighty poles thence to the begining which said survey was granted to James Mills by a pattent baring Date the First Day of April one Thousand seven hundred and Eighty and conveyed from James Mills to William Hall and from William Hall to Elisha Woodward to have and to hold the said Three hundred acres of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Elisha Woodward his heirs and assigns forever in a full and ample manner to all Intents and purposes as he the said William Hall did might or could have held the same before the making hereof and the said William Hall Doth hereby promise and engage for him self his heirs Executors and administrators that at the time of sealing and delivery hereof that he the said William Hall is and stands seized of the land and premises of an Indefeazeble Estate of Inheritance in Fee Simple and hath in him self good and Rightfull power and Lawfull authority to grant Bargain sell convey and forever confirm the said Land and premises and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Elisha Woodward his heirs and assigns and that from time to time and at all times and forever hereafter he the said Elisha Woodward his heirs and assigns by power and virtur hereof may and shall enter into have hold use occupie possess and forever enjoy the said three hundred acres of land, free and clear and freely and clearly acquited discharges saved kept harmless and Indemnified of and from all former or other gifts grants bargains sails Infeoffements wills intails jointures Dowers Executions Entents and incumbrances whatsoever moreover the said William Hall doth for himself his heirs Executors and administrators do promise and engage that at any time hereafter at the reasonable request of him the said Elisha Woodward his heirs or assigns at his or their cost and charges in the Law, make or cause to be made and duly Executed any further or other deed or instrument of writing for the same making a good and lawfull title of the said three hundred acres of Land and premises to him the said Elisha Woodward his heirs and assigns forever, as he the said Elisha Woodward, his heirs or assigns or his or their Councils Learned in the Law shall advise devise or require. And further more the said William Hall doth covenant and agree for himself his heirs Executor and administrators, to and with the said Elisha Woodward his Heirs and assigns, to warrent and forever defend the title of the said three hundred acres of land to him the said Elisha Woodward his heirs and assigns free from the claims of him the said William Hall his heirs or assigns or any person whatsoever, Laying any lawful claim thereunto. In Witness whereof the said William Hall hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day & year first above Written. Signed Sealed & Delivered William Hall in presence of James Dickson Joseph T.
