(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 246, 247, & 248 William Boyet To Lewis Thomas Deed for 400 acres lands This indenture made the fourth day of February one thousand seven hundred and eighty six and in the tenth year of the American Independency between William Boyet of Duplin County and State of No. Carolina planter of the one part, & Lewis Thomas of the County and State aforesaid planter of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said William Boyet for and in consideration of the sum of eighty pounds current money to him in hand paid at the exsealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, and the said William Boyet he the said Lewis Thomas doth exonerate acquit and discharge, and hath bargained granted and sold and by these presents doth fully and absolutely grant bargain sell alin convery & confirm unto the said Lewis Thomas his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Duplin County, buted and bounded as followeth Viz. Begining at a pine on the line formerly called Abraham Molten's but now the property of Lewis Thomas and runs along the same across the branch So. 5 Et. 240 poles to a black jack his corner, thence No. 75 Wt. 200 poles to a pine thence 15 Et. 160 pole to a pine, thence to the begining, and containing in the whole two hundred acres, which land was formerly taken up by Felix Kenan, and conveyed by the said Kenan by a deed of sale dated July the 24th 1775 to William Boyet and also all that other tract or parcel of land lying and being in County & State aforesaid on the west side of the North East River on the south side of Nahunga Swamp. Begining at a black jack his own corner of the land, he lived on, thence as his line No. 76 Wt. 178 pole to a pine, thence So. 14 Wt. 90 poles to a pine on a pond, thence So. 76 Et. 178 poles to a pine, thence to the begining, and containing in the whole one hundred acres, which land I the said Boyet took up, and also all that other tract, or parcel of land lying and being in County and State aforesaid on a Branch of Nahunga Swamp above his plantation on both side the road. Begining at a pine in a pond his own corner, thence as that line No. 12 Et. 90 poles to a pine his corner by the branch edge, thence to and with Stephen Powell's line No. 75 Wt. 180 poles to a pine by a pond, thence So. 15 Wt. 90 poles to a pine by a pond, thence to the begining, and containing in the whole one hundred acres, which land I the said Boyet took up togeather with all houses and buildings thereon contained. To have and to hold the said three tract or parcels of land and premises above mentioned & all & singular the appurtenances profits and hereditaments with all woods and all previledges thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Lewis Thomas his heirs & assigns forever and I the said William Boyet doth hereby for my self my heirs executors administrators and assigns, covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said Lewis Thomas his heirs and assigns, that I the said Boyet at the time of sealing and delivery hereof am the true sole and lawfull owner of the said three tract or parcels of land and premises above mentioned, and have in myself good right full power and lawfull authority to grant bargain & sell the same in manner aforesaid and that the said Lewis Thomas his heirs and assigns shall & may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter lawfully peacebly & quietly have hold use occupie possess & enjoy the said land and premises with the appurtenances without any lett just trouble disturbance or interuption of the saie William Boyet his heirs executors administrators or assigns or any of them or any other person claiming from by or under him or them or any of them, and that the said tract or parcels of land at the day hereof is and to shall remain forever continue and be unto him the said Lewis Thomas his heirs and assing forever, free and freely acquited exonerated and discharged of and from all manner of former or other gifts bargain sails leases wills intales jointures rents and anearessof rents quit rents widdows dowries and all other incumbrance whatsoever, and the said William Boyet for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said Lewis Thomas to warrent & defent the said tracts or parcels of land to him the said Lewis Thomas his heirs and assigns forever in manner and form following. Viz. that the said William Boyet and his heirs shall and will at the request of and at the proper cost & charges of him the said Lewis Thomas at any time when thereunto demanded make acknowledge perform and execute or cause to be made acknowledged performed and executed all and every such act or acts ded or deeds which the said Lewis Thomas his heirs exers. administrators or assigns or his or their council learned in the law shall be advised or required better and further assuring & sure making & establishing the said land unto him the said Lewis Thomas his heirs executors admins. and assigns forever. In witness whereof the said William Boyet hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day and year above written. William Boyet Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of us Jas.
