William Barber To James Moody
Deed 200 acres
This Indenture made this Twentyeth day of February In the year of our Lord Christ one
thousand seven hundred and ninety between William Barber of the State of North Carolina
and County of Pitts planter of the one part and James Moody of the State aforesaid and
County of Duplin planter of ye other part witnesseth ye said William Barber for & in
consideration of the sum of Ten pounds specie to me in hand paid before the Ensealing
& Delivering of these presents by the said James Moody the Receipt whereof I do acknowledge
myself fully satisfied and paid and every part and parcel thereof have given granted
Bargained and sold aliend and confirmed unto ye said James Moody his heirs and assigns
forever on Tract or parcel of Land in ye said County of Duplin contianing two Hundred
acres be ye same more or less Lying on the East side of the North East RIver of Cape
Fear and North side of Burncoat begining at three white oakes on Barnes line and runs
with his line No 40 Wt 180 poles to a small pine thence No 50 East 180 poles to a stake
thence So. 40 Et 110 poles crossing Cowhole branch to a small jack thence to the begining
the said Land patened by the said William Barber including the prity made on the said
James Moody he his heirs Excrs. admrs. or assigns to have and to hold the said bargained
Land and premises to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to their only proper
use Benefit & Behoof and the said William Barber Do for myself my heirs Excrs. admrs.
Covenant and agree to and with the said James Moody his heirs & assigns that they may &
shall form time to time hereafter Lawfully peaceable & quietly have hold use occupy
possess and enjoy the same without any interruption of me my heirs Excrs. admrs. or
any other assigns and Farther more I do warrant & defend the same from me or mine or
any other person under me In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my
seal the day and date first above written.
