William Anderson To Phillip Ward
Deed for sundry articles
This indenture made the twenty first day of November in the eleventh year of the
American Independence & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty six
between William Anderson of the County of Bertie in the State of No. Carolina of the one
part & Phillip Ward of the County of Duplin in the State of North Carolina of the other
part witnesseth, that the said William ANderson for and in consideration of the sum of
ten pounds current money to him in hand well and truly paid by the said Phillip Ward
before the sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby
acknowledge & himself to be therewith fully satisfied contented & paid & of every part
and parcel thereof doth acquit & discharge the said Phillip Ward his heirs executors and
administrators by these presents, he the said William Anderson hath given granted bargained
& sold & by these presents for himself his heirs executors & administrators doth give grant
bargain & sell to the said Phillip Ward, all his right title interest property claim &
demand whatsoever of in & to his distributive part of the estate of Phillip Ward late of
Bertie County deceased, which of right & in law doth appurtain or belong to him the said
William Anderson eighther in right of Sarah his wife the daughter of the said Phillip Ward
deceased or in consequence of the last will & testament of the said Phillip Ward deceased,
or otherwise which doth or may consist of negroes increase of negroes household furniture,
plantation tools stock money or money at interest or any other articles whatsoever, which
by the said William Anderson & Sarah his wife of the estate of the said Phillip Ward deceased
which is now in the hands & possession of Mary Ward the widow of the said deceased. To have
and to hold & enjoy all and singular the said goods & chattles money and other estate hereby
bargained & sold That is to say, all the right title interest property claim & demand
whatsoever of him the said William Anderson of in and to the said hereby bargained premises
or any part or parcel thereof, now in the hands or possession of Mary Ward the widdow of the
said Phillip Ward deceased, in as full and ample manner as he the said William Anderson by
the said last will & testament the said Phillip Ward or otherwise in right of Sarah his wife
could or might enjoy & that free and clear off and from any lest hindarance or molestation of
him the said William Anderson his heirs exrs. or admns. of any other person or persons
claiming any righty title interest or property to the same or any part or parcel thereof, by
from or under him them or any of them. In witness whereof the said William Anderson hath
hereunto set his hand & fixed his seal the day & date above written.
