William Hunter to Andrew Laws Deed 21 August 1786

(Transcribed by Hunt Sanders) (Duplin Co, NC. Deed Book 1A, pp404-5) William Hunter to Andrew Laws Deed for 200 acres land. This Indenture made this twenty first day of August in the eleventh year of the american Independence & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six, Between William Hunter of the State of No Carolina & County of Duplin planter, of the one part, & Andrew Laws of the County of Wayne & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth, that the said William Hunter for and in consideration of the sum of eighty pounds specie to him in hand well & truly paid by Andrew Laws aforesaid before the ensealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath by these presents given granted bargained sold assigned and set over to the said Andrew Laws his heirs and assigns forever, two certain tracts or parcels of land lying & being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the west side of the North East River, &, on the west side of Persimmon swamp, between Rutherford’s & McIntire’s lines, Begining at a white oak on the side of Persimmon swamp & runs thence to & past Rutherford’s corner, So 55 Wt 127 poles to a pine, thence No 35 Wt 160 poles, thence No 55 Ea 70 pole to Persimmon swamp, thence down the swamp to the beginning, patent bearing date Page 405. The twenty second day of July 1774. As also one other tract or parcel of land in Duplin County Wt side of the No East River & south side of Persimmon swamp, Begining at a Black Gum & Bay tree on the run of Persimmon swamp, Robert Dickson’s corner, thence as said Dickson’s line So 65 Wt 80 pole to a Black Jack and white oak his corner, thence the other line So 45 Wt 70 pole to a Black Jack his corner, thence So 60 Ea 130 pole to a Large pine, thence No 25 Ea 82 pole to a Red oak his corner of another survey, thence as that line No 35 Ea 270 pole to the run of the swamp & up the same as it meanders to the begining, containing in the whole two hundred acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid two tracts or parcels of land & premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise apurtaining of every nature or kind whatsoever, free from all incumbrances whatever given granted or done by him the said William Hunter or any other person or persons whatever by from or under him or them or any of them, & the said William Hunter the aforesaid lands and premises to him the said Andrew Laws his heirs assigns shall & will warrant & forever defend from & against him the said William Hunter his heirs and assigns, as also from and against the just & lawful claim of all and every other person or persons whatever, who may hereafter lay any lawfull claim to the same In witness whereof the said William Hunter hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day and date above written. his Signed sealed & delivered in } William H Hunter (seal) presence of } mark State of No Carolina Duplin county July Term 1787 Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of Thos Routeleage & ordered to be registered.
