at a Gum in said Swamp thence running N 25 Wt 20 Chains to a Red Oake No 30 Wt 20 Chains
to a lightwood No 55 Et 40 Chains to a pine So 35 Et 34 Chains to a Gum by said swamp &
down the swamp to the first Station Dated 23d April 1762.

James Dobson to George Smith
This Indenture made this Fifteenth day of June in the Year of Our Lord Christ One Thousand
seven Hundred and Eighty two Between James Dobson Senior of the County of Duplin and State
of North Carolina of the one part and George Smith of the County and State aforesaid of
the Other part. Witnesseth that the said James Dobson for and in consideration of the sum
of forty pounds Specie to him in hand paid by the said George Smith the Receipt whereof I
do hereby acknowledge my self therewith fully satisfied and paid And of every part and
parcel thereof doth hereby acquit Exonerate and discharge the said
George Smith His Heirs Executors
Administrators and assigns forever Have given granted bargained and sold unto the said
George Smith his heirs and assigns forever a parcel of land Containing Ninety three
acres of land 93 acres of land lying and Being ;in the County of Duplin and State
aforesaid on White Oak Swamp Beginning at a live Oak on the south side and Runs South
One Hundred poles to a pine thence 60 west 130 poles to a Black Oak thence North 30 West
100 poles to a Oak thence up the Swamp to the Beginning the said land pattented by
Anthony Williams Pattent Bearing date the Twenty second day of May One thousand
Seven Hundred and forty One 1741 and made over by deed from Stephen Williams to
William Barns and from Jacob Fort and Mary his wife daughter of William Barns to
James Dobson Senior the said George Smith

and from James Dobson to George Smith the said George Smith to hold the saids land
and bargained premises to the proper use of him the said George Smith his heirs
Executors administrators or assigns forever to Hold each and singular every part
and parcel thereof without any interruption of him the said James Dobson Senior
his heirs Executors and administrators or any other person whatsoever.
And I the said James Dobson so for myself my heirs Executors administrators
Warrant and forever defend the above Bargained land and premises unto the said
George Smith his heirs Executors administrators or assigns forever and further
more the said
James Dobson Senior doth Oblige
Myself to give another deed of this should not be deemed lawfull
In witness whereof I the said James
Dobson Senior have Hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year
