Harris To N Murray Deed for 222 acres Land This Indenture made this 30th day of October 1838 between William Harris of the County of Duplin in the State of North Carolina of the one part & Guilford S Murray of the other part witnesseth that the said William Harris for and in consideration of the sum of Four hundred Dollars to him in hand paid hath granted Bargained & sold and do by these present grant bargain & sell unto the said Guilford S Murray the following tracts of parcils of land in Duplin County (viz) on the North side of the Grove Swamp & on Gum Swamp first parcil Begining at a pine & Bay John Neals corner thence his line South 35 Et 60 poles to a bay thence his other line south 65 west 94 pole to a pine on Isaac Hunters line thence his line So 35 west 150 poles to a pine his corner thence George Williams line No 25 west 250 poles to a white oak water oak in a drain on the west side of Gum Swamp thence to the begining containing by survey one hundred acres also one other parcil begining begining at a water oak in a drain on the west side of Gum Swamp & runs south 20 wt 40 poles to a pine thence South 1 Et 100 poles to a pine thence so 46 wt 206 poles to a pine thence No 25 west 250 poles to the Begining containing by survey fifty acres also one other parcil Begining at a cypress on the North Run of the Grove Swamp opposite William Stoaks house & runs North 25 wt 45 poles to a large pine thence No 46 wt 206 poles to a pine thence so 37 wt 80 poles to a cypress on the Run of said Swamp thence down said Swamp as it meanders to the Begining containing by survey seventy two acres To have & to hold the said Bargained Lands & premises to the siad Guilford S Murray & his heirs forever and the said William Harris doth covenant to & with the said Guilford S Murray to defend the title of the lands to him and his heirs free from incumbrance & from and against the claim of any person whatever witness my hand and seal day & date first written Wm Harris Witness C J Houston A J Grady State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of please & Quarter Sessions July term 1839 The Execution of the within deed is duly proved in open court by the oath of Alexr J.
