W. Dickson To Theophilus Williams Deed 19 July 1788

(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 462, & 463 W. Dickson To Theophilus Williams Bill of Sale for 2 negroes State of No. Carolina Duplin County. Know all men by these presents, that I William Dickson of the County aforesaid have this day bargained & sold to Theophilus Williams in publick and open sealing a negro woman slave named Lidia about twenty four year of age & Country Born, with her child a Boy about eighten months old named Hamlet for the consideration of one hundred and eighty pounds current money in hand which I do hereby acknowledge to have reserved in full, which said two negroes Lydia & Hamlet I do hereby engage to warrant & defend to the said Theophilus Williams his heirs executors administrators or assigns forever, from and against me & my heirs & the just & lawfull claim & demand of all and every other person or persons whatsoever claiming any right title interst or property of in and to the said two negroe slaves Lidia & Hamlet. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the nineteenth day of July Anno Domini 1788. W. Dickson Signed sealed in presence of Thos. Gray W. Gray Duplin County July Term 1788. Then was the within Bill of sale acknowledged in open Court & ordered to be registered. Test W. Dickson, C. C.
