Thomas Quinn To John Williams
Deed for 100 acres lands
This indenture made the second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred & eighty seven. Between Thomas Quinn of the County of Duplin & Province
of No. Carolina planter of the one part & John William of the same State & County of the
other part. Witnesseth that he the said Thos. Quinn for and in consideration of the sum
of eighty pounds good and lawfull money of this State to him in hand paid by the aforesaid
John Williams before the ensealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof he
doth acknowledge hath granted bargained & sold & doth by these presents fully freely and
absolutely granted bargained sold & conveyed & confirmed unto the said John Williams his
heirs & assigns forever, one part or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred
acres situated lying and being in Duplin County aforesaid on Limestone Creek about three
miles above William Thomas'es place granted & patened to Francis Gregory, patent bearing
date the 10th day of May one thousand seven hundred and fifty three. Begining at a white
oak near the mouth of white oak Branch, thence runing No. 20 Et. 29 chains to a pine, No.
30 Et. 19 chains to a gum So. 48 Wt. 45 chains to a sweet gum by said Creek, & along said
creek to the first station, togeather with all woods underwoods, fields fences ways waters
& water courses hereditaments easements commodities thereunto belonging or in any wise
appertaining. To have and to hold unto the said John Williams his heirs & assigns forever,
& he the said Thomas Quinn for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth further
covenant promise grant & agree to and with the said John Williams in manner and form (To
wit) that he the said Thomas Quinn is and now stands rightfully & lawfully seized &
possessed with the above bargained premises, that he the said John Williams his heirs and
assigns shall and may forever hereafter peacebly & quietly have hold use occupie possess &
enjoy the aforementioned bargained premises with the appurtenances free & clear off and
from all manner of hindrance or incumbrance whatsoever, the tax only excepted and the same
land unto him the said John Williams & his heirs & assigns the aforesaid Thos. Quinn for
himself his executors & administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend by virtue
of these presents. In witness whereof he the said Thomas Quinn hath hereunto set his hand
& seal the day & year first before written.
