Tho. J. Kinnear Shff To Danl C. Moore
Deed for 2 Lots of Routledge Land
This Indenture Made the 25th day of March AD 1839 between Thomas J. Kinnear
former high Sheriff in and for the County of Duplin in the State of North Carolina of
the one part & Daniel C. Moore of the same State and County of the other part Witnesseth
that the said Thomas J. Kinnear Shff as aforesaid by virtue and in persuance of five
Several Writs of Venditione Expower Issued from the Court of please & Quarter Sessions
of the County of Duplin aforesaid Tested of July term 1838 returnable to October term 1838
of this Court & to him delivered Two in favour of James Carrell to us of John Pollock vs
Nicholas & Morgan Routledge Wm. H Hasley & James Carrell two in Favour of D. H. Birdsey vs
Nicholas Routledge and one in favour of David Wright against Nicholas Routledge E Morgan
Routledge & Harrold Blackmon he the said Thomas J. Kinnear Sheriff as aforesaid after giving
due advertisement according to Law did on Tuesday the 16th day of October AD 1838 expose to
sale at public Auction at the Court House in Kenansville the Land of Nicholas Routledge & E
Morgan Routledge being an undivided interest in the lands of their deceased Father Adjoining
the Lands of the said Daniel C. Moore and David Gillespie which Lands have Since been divided
and are herein after more particularly described at which time & place Daniel c Moor became
the Last and highest bidder in the Sum of Four hundred & seventy five dollars Now there fore
this Indenture witnesseth that the said Thomas J. Kinnear Shff as aforesaid for and inconsideration
of the premises and of the said sum of Four hundred and seventy five dollars to him paid by
the said Daniel C Moore the Receipt & payment whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted
bargained sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien release
& confirm unto the siad Daniel C Moore & his Heirs the Two following Lots of Land (viz) Lots
Nos.. 1 & 3 in the partation of said Land Lot No 1 bounded as follows Begining at an ash on
the Run of the Grove and runs thence So 5 Et 86 poles to a stake in the Road thence up said
Road No 88 Et 61 poles to a pine at the Grave yard thence So 2 Et 16 1/2 poles to a pine thence
So 81 Et 57 poles to a pine thence So 5 Et 120 poles to an ash on the run of the Mill Branch
thence down said branch nearly North 75 Et 40 poles to a sweet gum thence No 24 wt 120 poles to
a red oak thence No 43 Et 150 pole to the run of the Grove thence up said run the the begining
containing sixty two & half acres drawn by Nicholas Routledge And Lot No 3 bounded as follows
Begining on the Run of the Grove swamp above the road and runs thence so 29 Et 240 poles to
a water oak on the run of the mill Branch thence down said Branch Nearly North 35 Et 70 poles
to an ash Gillespies corner on the run of the Grove thence up said run to the begining containing
sixty nine acres drawn by Morgan Routledge and all the profits advantages and Appurtenances there
unto belonging To have & to hold the aforesaid Two Lots of Land with the appurtenances unto the
said Daniel C. Moore his heirs and assigns to the only proper use & behoof of him the said Daniel
C. Moore and his Heirs & assigns forever and he the said Thomas J. Kinnear Sheriff as aforesaid
for himself & his Heirs hereby warrants and Defend the aforesaid Lands unto the said Daniel C.
Moore his Heirs and assigns against himself the said Thomas J. Kinnear Sheriff as aforesaid and
His Heirs and all persons whatsoever so for as he is authorised and empowered to do by virtue of
his office of Sheriff but no further In Testimony whereof he the said Thomas J. Kinnear hath
hereunto set his hand and seal the day & year first above written
