Cummings To Abraham Glisson Deed of 200 acres of lands This indenture made the fifth day of October in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty two between Thomas Cummings of the State of North Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part and Abraham Glisson of the same place of the other part, witnesseth that the said Thomas Cummings for divers good causes & considerations for the sum of forty pounds good and lawful money of the State aforesaid to him in hand well and truly paid by Abraham Glisson aforesaid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath by these presents, given, granted, bargained, sold, assigned and set over the the said Abraham Glisson his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in Duplin County aforesaid on the east side of the North East branch of the Cape Fear River opposite the mouth of Rockfish Creek including a survey formerly made for Job Roington. Begining at a Black Jack on the Riverbank Herrington's upper corner, thence South 65 East 60 pole to two pines his corner thence South 25 East 100 pole to a pine his other corner thence the same course continued 60 pole to a stake, thence South 65 West 100 pole to a stake by the River 60 pole above Herrington's corner; thence the same courses continued to the River & up the River to the first station containing by patent two hundred acres be the same more or less the contains of a patent granted to Thomas Cummings the twenty second day of July Anno Dom. 1774, to have and to hold the said bargained land premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining to him the said Abraham Glisson his heirs & assigns for ever and the said Thomas Cummings the aforesaid land & premises to him the said Abraham Glisson his heirs & assigns shall and will warrant & forever defend from & against the lines the said Thomas Cummings his heirs & assigns as also from & against the just and lawful claims of every other person or persons whatsoever who may henceafter lay any just and lawful claim to the same. In witness whencof the said Thomas Cummings hath hereunto set his hand & seal the date first above written. Thomas Cummings Signed sealed and delivered in presents and in presence of us Witness Denis Glisson Witness Saml. Howard State of North Carolina Duplin County, July Court 1784.
