(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 123, 124, & 125 Thomas Wiggins To Nathaniel Kinnard Deed for 40 acres lands State of No. Carolina, Duplin County. This indenture made this fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five and tenth year of our Independence between Thomas Wiggins of the County and State aforesaid planter of the one part and Nathaniel Kinnard of the County and State aforesaid, Brick layer of the other part witnesseth that the said Thomas Wiggins for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen pounds specie money to him in hand paid before the ensealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, and myself therwith fully satisfied contented & paid hath granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed & by these presents doth fully freely and absolutely grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Nathaniel Kinnard his heirs & assigns one certain tract of parcel of land containing forty acres of land be the same more or less, lying and being in the State & County aforesaid, on the No. side of Goshen Swamp. Begining at a stake at the mouth of Tylors branch thence up the meanders of Tylers to a maple the patent line, thence No. 45 Wt. 54 pole to a white oak Kinnard's corner, thence with his line So. 45 Wt. 120 pole to a live oak in Goshep Swamp below the bridge thence up the swamp No. 45 Wt. 133 pole to a white oak his corner at the mouth of white oak branch, thence So. 45 Wt. 44 pole to a gum an ashe an maple on the run of Goshen swamp, thence down the meanders thereof Wm. Stephens line to the begining, with all the houses and improvements woods waters with the profits & advantages thereunto belonging or appertaining in a full and ample manner. To have and to hold the said forty acres of land with hte premises therunto belonging & appertaining unto him the said Nathaniel Kinnard his heirs & assigns, and to the only use and behoof of him the said Nathaniel Kinnard his heirs and assigns forever, and I the said Thomas Wiggins for myself my heirs executors administrators doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Nathaniel Kinnard his heirs and assigns, that he the said Nathaniel Kinnard shall and may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter peacebly and quietly have hold & possess and enjoy all and singular the above mentioned land and premises without any trouble molestation or interuption of him the said Thomas Wiggins his heirs executors administrators or assigns forever. In witness whereof I the said Thomas Wiggins hath hereunto set my hand and seal the date above written. Thomas Wiggins Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us William Hurst John Beck William Beck State of No. Carolina, Duplin County, January Court 1785.
