Thomas Wiggins To George Holms
Deed for 100 acres lands
This indenture made the ninth day of February in the year of our Lord God one thousand
and eighty two, between Thomas Wiggins of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin planter
of the one part & George Holms of the same place planter of the other part. Witnesseth that
the said Thomas Wiggins for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds specie to him
in hand well and truly paid before the sealing & delivering of these presents, by the said
George Holms, the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and therefore doth release acquit &
dischare the said George Holms his heirs executors & administrators by these presents, he the
said Thomas Wiggins hath granted bargained sold aliend and confirmed and by these doth grant
bargain sell aline and confirm unto the said George Holms and his heirs a certain piece of land
situate lying & being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the North side of Goshen Swamp & on
the east side of Rattlesnake Branch. Begining at a red oad runs No. 81 Et. 160 pole to a
Hickory, thence No.9 Wt. 120 pole to a hickory, thence No. 60 Wt. to a Branch, thence down the
branch to a stake opposite to a red oak at the first station, & containing in the whole one
hundred acres more or less. To have and to hold the lands hereby conveyed & singular other the
premises thereon or thereunto in any wise belonging or appertaining & every part or parcel
thereof, with their & every of their appurtenances unto the said George Holms his heirs and
assigns forever, and the said Thomas Wiggins for himself his heirs executors and administrators,
doth covenant promise & grant to and with the said George Holms his heirs & assigns by these
presents, that he the said Thomas Wiggins at the time sealing & delivering these presents, is
siezed of a good sure perfect and indefeazable estate of inheritance in fee simple lawfull and
absolute authority to grant & convey the same to the said George Holms in manner & form aforesaid
& that the said premises now an & forever hereafter shall remain and be free & clear of and from
all former or other gifts grants bargains sales dowers right & title of dower judgements
executions titles troubles charges & incumbrances whatsoever made done committed or suffered by
the said Thomas Wiggins or any other person or persons whatsoever, the rents & taxes thereon
now due or hereafter becoming due only excepted & that the sai Thomas Wiggins and his heirs all
and singular the premises hereby bargained & sold with appurtenances unto the said George Holms
his heirs and assigns against him the said Thomas Wiggins and his heirs & all and every person
& persons whatsoever shall warrent & forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the
said Thomas Wiggins hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above written.
