Thomas Taylor To Elisha Jones
Deed for 345 acres lands
This indenture made this twentieth fifth day of August in the year of our Lord Christ
one thousand seven hundred and eighty four, and in the eighty year of our Independance between
Thoma Taylor of the State of No. Carolina in the County of Duplin planter of the one part and
Elisha Jones of the other part and same County. Witnesseth that the said Thomas Taylor for
divers good causes and considerations him thereunto moving, but more especially for valluable
consideration of the sum of twenty pounds specie money to him in hand well & truly paid before
the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof doth herebyacknowledge, and
himself therewith to be fully satisfied & content and there from & from every part and parcel
thereof doth hereby acquit & discharge the said Elisha Jones his heirs executors & administrators
doth fully freely & absolutely grant bargain sell convey & forever confirm unto the said Elisha
Jones his heirs executors or assign, one certain tract or parcel of land containing 345 acres on
the So. side of the No. east swamp & on the dreans of Rattle Snake branch. Begining at a white
oak Constantine Whitfield's corner, and runs with lin one hundred and thirty six pole to a white
oak Anthony Jones' corner, thence with his line SO. 3 Et. 170 pole to a pine in a pond, thence
Wt. 270 poles to a pine by a pond, thence No. 250 pole to a stake on Henry Goodman's line thence
with his line So. 80 Et. 154 poles to a pine his corner, thence to the begining. To have and to
hold the said 345 acres of land & premises appurtenances in as full and ample manner as he the
said Thomas Taylor by his patent might or could enjoy the same, he the said Elisha Jones his heirs
executors or assigns yielding ossaying to the said State the quitrents which shall become annually
& forever due for the same,on which condition the said Elisha Jones his heirs & assigns forever
& the said Thomas Taylor doth hereby covenant & agree for himself his heirs executors and
administrators, to and with the said Elisha Jones his heirs & assigns, that he the said Thomas
Taylor at the time of sealing & delivery of these presents is the true rightfull & lawfull owner
of the said three hundred and forty five acres of land & premises as above mentioned and every
part & parcel thereof without any incumbrance or other matter alter or change the same & that
he the said Thomas Taylor now hath good rightfull power & authority in his pwn proper right to
grant bargain sell convey & confirm the said tract or parcel of land & all & singular the premise
s above mentioned unto the said Elisha Jones to the only use & behoof of him the said Elisha
Jones his heirs & assigns forever, and that the said Elisha Jones shall and may from time to
time & at all times forever hereafter peacebly & quietly enter into have & to hold use occupy
possess & enjoy the said land & premises without any manner of trouble molestation or interuption
of him the said Thomas Taylor his heirs executors and administrators or any other person or
persons whatsoever & the said Thomas Taylor doth further covenant & agree for himself his heirs
& administrators to & with the said Elisha Jones his heirs & assigns that he the said Thomas
Taylor his heirs executors administrators shall & will at any time hereafter at the reasonable
request of him the said Elisha Jones his heirs or assigns, and at the cost & charges in law of
him the said Elisha Jones his heirs or assigns make or cause to be made & duly executed any
further or other deed or instrument of writing for the same making of the little of said land &
premises to the said Elisha Jones his heirs & assigns, and that he or they shall and will
warrant & forever engage the said land & premises to the said Elisha Jones his heirs & assigns
safely defending against the lawful claim of him the said Thomas Taylor his heirs executors
administrators & any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Thomas Taylor
hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above written.
