Thomas Shepard To Thos E Shepard
Deed for land

This Indenture made this 13th day May 1839 between Thomas Shepard of the County of Duplin 
and State of North Carolina of the One part and Thomas Edward Shepard of the same County 
& State of the other part witnesseth the said Thomas of the one part doth for and in 
consideration of Natural love & affection to his son Thomas Edward give & grant & by them 
presents doth alien and confirm a certain tract or parcil of Land containing 165 acres 
butts & bound as following (viz) Begining at a gum on the run of Fredericks mile Branch 
thence No 6 wt 23 poles to a stake on the main Road thence with the Road wt 46 poles 
thence with Road so 69 wt 132 poles thence with the Road so 86 wt 14 poles to a stake 
thence south 4 wt 124 poles to a black jack thence so 32 wt 22 poles to a stake thence 
so 25 et 34 poles to a pine thence so 12 Et 99 pole to a pine thence so 51 Et 52 pole to 
a pine on the back line thence with said line No 5 Et 106 poles to a gum on the run of 
Pigpen Branch thence down with said Run to the Run of Gredericks mile Branch thence down 
with the run of the mill Branch to the Begining all the above land and appurtenanes 
thereunto Belonging to have & to hold to him the said Thomas Edward his heirs and assigns 
forever and said Thomas of the one part doth warrant and defend the right and title of 
the above lands from him his heirs Executors  and administrators unto him the said Thomas 
Edward his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever in his testimony which the 
said Thomas of the one part doth hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal this day and 
date above written

State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of please and Quarter Sessions July term 1839

The Execution of the within deed is duly proved in open Court by the oath of Isaac B. Kelly
