(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 520, & 521 Thomas Quinn To John Williams Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made the tenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven. Between Thomas Quinn of the County of Duplin and province of No. Carolina planter of the one part and John Williams of the same State & County aforesaid planter of the other part Witnesseth the he the said Thomas Quinn for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds good and lawfull money of this State to him in hand paid by the aforesaid John Williams before the ensealing & delivey of these presents, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath granted bargained and sold and doth by these presents fully freely & absolutely grant bargain sell convey & confirm unto the said John Williams and his heirs and assigns forever, one part or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred acres situated lying & being in Duplin County aforesaid on the No. side of Limestone Creek, & on both side of Gum Swamp above Anthony Lewis's land including his improvements. Beg'g at a red oak on the east side of the swamp by Moses Strahorn's line No. 80 Wt. 150 pole to a large pine in the fork of a branch, thence So. 10 Wt. 110 pole to a small pine in a swampy place, thence crossing the swamp So. 80 Et. 150 poles to a red oak sapling thence the begining. Patend by Thomas Quinn bearing date the first day of July 1779. To have & to hold the above granted and bargained premises with all and every previledge & benefit belonging or in any wise appertaining to the above granted and bargained land & premises free and clear of all incumbrances (such only excepted as hereafter shall or may become due by tax.) to him the aforesaid John Williams his heirs or assigns forrever hereafter & I do furthermore for myself my heirs executors and administrators do warrant & defend the above granted & bargained land against the lawfull claims or demands of all persons. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & year first above written. Thomas Quinn Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Chaplain Williams Jacob Williams State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1788.
