Thomas Gray To Charles Hooks

Bill of sale

Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Gray of the County of Johnston have Bargained 
sold and Delivered unto Charles Hooks of the County of Duplin one negroe girl named Betty 
for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds to me in hand paid, by the said Hooks 
which said negroe Betty I do hereby warrant and Defend against all Titles claims or claims 
whatever In Witness wereof I have hereunto my hand and seal this 6th December 1791
signed sealed and Delivered

Henry Gray

State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1791

Then was the within bill of sale proved in open Court by the oath of John Barfield and ordered
