Thomas Crumpton to David Hall
Deed for 150 acres lands
This indenture made the eightenth day of July in the tenth year of American Independence,
& in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred & eighty five, between Thomas
Crumpton of the State of North Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part, and David Hall
of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Thomas Crumpton for divers
good causes & consideration him thereunto moving, but more especially for the valuable
consideration of the sum of fifteen pounds current money of the State aforesaid to him in hand
well and truely paid by David Hall aforesaid before the ensealing and delivery of these presents,
the receipt whereof whereby acknowledged, hath by these presents given granted bargained and
sold assigned and set over to the said David Hall his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract
or parcel of land sittuate lying & being in Duplin County aforesaid on the west side of Burrill
Hill Branch. Begining at a pine on the swamp side Clifton Bowen's corner, thence along his line
about North 77 Wt. 220 pole to a stake by a pine his corner, thence No. 10 Et. 158 poles to a
pine, thence So. 80 Et. 120 pole to a pine on Benjamin Lanier line, thence along his line So.
15 Et. 25 pole to a red oak pine and Hickory his corner at the head of a drane thence down the
said drain with the various courses to the begining, containing in the whole one hundred and
fifty acres be the same more or less, being the contents of a patent granted to the said Thomas
Crumpton bearing date the 29th of October Anno Domini 1782. To have & to hold the aforesaid
land and premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining
to him the said David Hall his heirs and assigns forever, free from all incumbrances whatever
given granted of done by him the said Thomas Crumpton or any other person or persons whatever,
by from or under him or their or any of them, and the said David Hall the aforesaid land and
premises shall and may have hold use occupie enjoy and possess as his own free and lawfull
inheritance, free from all former gifts grants mortgages intails wills dower right or title of
dower executions entents or troubles whatever, and the said Thomas Crumpton the aforesaid land
and premises to him the said David his heirs and assigns shall and will warrent and forever
defend from & against him the said Thomas Crumpton his heirs & assigns, as also from and against
the just & lawfull clame of all and every other person whatever who may hereafter lay any
lawfull claim to the same. In witness, whereof the said Thomas Crumpton hath here set his hand
& seal the date above written.
