(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 450, & 451 Thomas Baker To John McGee Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made this fifteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty four, Between Thomas Baker of Great Pee Dee in the State of South Carolina of the one part, & John McGee of Duplin County in the State of No. Carolina of the other part. Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of thirteen pounds currency to the said Thomas Baker in hand paid by the said John Magee at or before the sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby and therefore doth release & discharge the said John McGee his heirs executors & administrators by these presents, he the said Thomas Baker hath granted bargained sold, aliend and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said John McGee his heirs and assigns forever, a certain piece and parcels of land, situate lying in the County of Duplin & State aforesaid, containing one hundred acres on the east side of the No. East & upper side of Cypress Creek & No. side of the gum swamp. Begining at a white oak on Benton Williford's line, thence along his line about No. 12 Et. 200 poles to or near Joseph Hutcheson's line, thence No. 28 Wt. 80 poles, then So. 12 Wt. 200 poles, then So. 78 Et. to the begining, paten'd to the said Thomas Baker 29 October 1782, and all houses buildings orchards ways waters water courses profits commodities heriditatments & appurtenances whatsoever to the said premises hereby granted or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appertaining & the reversion & reversions remainder and remainders rents issues & profits thereof, & also all the estate right and title interest use & trust property & claim & demand whatsoever of him the said Thomas Baker of in and to the said premises. To have and to hold the said land hereby conveyed & all and singular other premises hereby bargained & sold & evey part & parcel thereof unto the said John McGee, his heirs executors administrators or assigns forever, at a true and perfect estate of inheritance in fee simple & he the said Thomas Baker at the ensealing & delivering of these presents have a lawfull right to convey the same & that the same is free and clear from any incumbrance whatsoever assessments & taxes hereafter by law excepted, & I the said Thomas Baker obliges myself my heirs executors administrators to give unto the said John McGee his Council or councils learned in the law what he or they shall advise devise or require for any further or more ample title to the premises hereby conveyed. In witness whereof I the said Thomas Baker have hereunto put my hand and seal the day and year above written. Thomas Baker Signed sealed & delivered in the presents of us James Lockhart Stephen Williams John Farrior State of No. Carolina Duplin County October Term 1787.
