(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 548, & 549 Thomas Adkison To James Thompson This indenture made the fifteenth day of March in the twenvth year of American Independence & in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred & eighty eight. Between Thomas Adkison of the State of North Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part & James Thompson of Sampson Coutny of the other part Witnesseth, that the said Thomas Adkison for the consideration of the sum of thirty five pounds current money to him in hand well & truly paid by the said James Thompson, befor the ensealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by these presents granted bargained sold assigned & set over to the said James Thompson his heirs & assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in Duplin County aforesaid on both sides of Buck Hall swamp. Begining at a small pine his and said Thompson's corner, Wt. side the swamp, thence by a line of marked trees nearly So. 30 Et. 59 poles to a white oak, thence So. 5 Et. 38 poles to a stake Rivenbark's corner, thence Rivenbark's line 76 poles to the run of Buck Hall, thence down the same as it meanders to the mouth of Cow Branch, thence up the meanders of the run of Cow Marsh to an old dead persimmon Kedar Bryan's corner, formerly Benjamin Williams's corner, thence Wt. 82 poles to a red oak Bryan's corner, thence his line So. 25 Wt. 68 poles to a stake, thence his line about north 5 Et. 16 poles to a stake in the swamp side, thence crossing the swamp nearly So. 87 Wt. to the first station, containing in the whole sixty acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the said land and premises with the appurtenances thereto belonging forever & the said Thomas Adkison the aforesaid land & premises with all the appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining, shall and will warrant & forever defend to him the said James Thompson, his heirs & assigns forever, from & against him the said Thomas Adkison his heirs & assigns, as also from & agaist the just and lawfull claim of all and every other person or persons whatever who may hereafter lay and lawfull claim to the same. In witness whereof the said Thomas Adkison hath hereunto set his hand & seal the date above written. Thomas Adkison Signed & delivered in the presence of us Joseph Dickson John Kelly State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1788.
