(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 69 & 70 Theophilus Williams to Rawley Mills Deed for 50 acres lands This indenture made the 26th day of January one thousand seven hundred and eighty four, between Theophilus Williams of the State of North Carolina and County of Duplin and Rawley Mills of the same place. Witnesseth, that Theophilus Williams hath for & in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds specie to me in hand paid by Rawley Mills the receipt I hereby acknowledge my self fully paid and content therewith, hath bargained sold conveyed and confirmed unto Rawley Mills a certain plantation tract or parcel of land Sittuate lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the south side of Bear Swamp, on the milling branch. Begining at a post oak on the west side of Cattail Marsh, running So. 45 Et. 112 pole to a white oak, thence No. 74 Et. to a poplar in the gum branch, Charles Hines'es corner, thence down the gum branch the various courses thereof to a gum at the mouth of the Cattail branch thence up the said branch to the begining containing fifty acres be the same more or less being part of three hundred and fifty acres purchases by Frederick Bell of Henry McCulloch out of his large survey as by the deed of said Frederick Bell may more fully appear. To have and to hold the above land and premises to him the said Rawley Mills his heirs and assigns forever, as a perfect & absolute wright of inheritance in fee simple with all the wrights priviliges possessions appertaining to the above land & premises to him the said Rawley Mills his heirs & assigns against me the said Theophilus Williams my heirs & assigns and every other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal. Theophilus Williams Signed sealed and delivered in presence of us David Cannon Wm.
