Swinson To John Machet Deed for 250 acres lands To all persons to whom these presents comes greeting, and Know ye that Theophilus Swinson of the County of Duplin & province of No. Carolina, that for and in consideration of the sum of fifty five pounds current money to me in hand paid by the said John Matchet of the County and province aforesaid, before the sealing & delivery hereof, the receipt I do hereby acknowledge and my self therewith fully satisfied contented & paid & of every part & parcel bargained & sold & confirmed to John Matchet his heirs executors and assigns forever, one tract of land lying & being in the County of Duplin and on the South side of Goshen swamp. Begining at a maple at the mouth of the Briny branch, marked trees M. B. & W. B. runing a straight course to a red oak, thence No. 25 Wt. to a pine Anthony Williams' & George Miller's corner on grass run and up the said run to the nouth of the long meadow to a pine Joseph Wells'es corner, thence Wt. 120 pole to a black, thence So. 80 poles to a stake, thence down Smith to the begining, the upper part of a tract of land granted to Benjamin Fulsom being the upper part of said tract granted to him by patent in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & sixty seven, containing by extimation two hundred and fifty acres, be the same more or less, togeather with all woods under woods common pasture to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining in as full and ample a manner as the said Theophilus Swinson by his deed or patent doth or may enjoy the same, the said John Matchet his heirs or assigns to have and to hold the said 250 acres of land with the appurtenances unto the said John Matchet his heirs or assigns forever and to the only proper use benefit & behoofs & the said Theophilus Swinson for himself his heirs or assigns, doth covenant & grant to & with the said John Matchet his heirs & assigns and further that I the said Theophilus Swinson now is the rightfull owner of the said land, and have in myself good power and lawfull authority to bargain & sell the said premises & that without any manner of condition or reserve according to the true intent & meaning of these presents. In witness whereof the said Theophilus Swinson hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal this 22nd day of March 1785. Theophilus Swinson Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Chas. Ward Anthy. Miller State of No. Carolina, Duplin County, January Court 1785. There was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of Charles Ward & ordered to be registered. Test W. Dickson, C.
