(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 410, 411, & 412 Theophilus Williams To James Morris Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made the ninth day of February in the eleventh year of the American Independence & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty seven. Between Theophilus Williams of the County of Duplin in the State of North Carolina, planter, of the one part, and James Morris of the same place on the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Theophilus Williams for and in considertaion of the sum of seventy five pounds current money of North Carolina to him in hand well and truly paid by the said James Morrris the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge & himself to be therewith fully satisfied contented and paid, & of every part and parcel thereof doth acquit and discharge the said James Morris his heirs executors and administrators by these presents, he the said Theophilus Williams hath given granted bargained sold aliend enfeoffed conveyed confirmed assignes set over, and by these presents for himself his heirs executors and administrators, doth fully freely & absolutely give grant bargain sell alien enfeofffe convey confirm assign and set over unto the said James Morris his heirs and assigns, all that piece or parcel of land & plantation, sittuate lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the So. side of Bear Swamp, being the land where Rawley Mills formerly lived on. Begining at a water oak William Guy's corner in a branch, thence So. 20 Et. 100 poles to a black jack, thence So. 70 Et. 120 poles to a stake among three black jack's & a pine, No. 30 Et. 65 poles to a black jack at Hardy Malpas'es corner, thence as Malpass' es line No. 45 Wt. 112 poles to a white oak Rawley Mills's corner, thence as his line Wt. 100 poles to the begining, containing by pattend one hundred acres, be the more or less. Togeather with all woods waters ways water courses houses buildings & improvements thereon with all previledges benefits & advantages thereon or thereto in any wise belonging or appertenance. To have and to hold to him the said James Morris his heirs and assigns forever, all the within & granted land and premises & that free and clear freely and clearly acquited & discharged of and from all & all manner of former or other gifts grants bargains sales leases mortgages wills jointures judgments executions, dower right & title of dower & off and from all manner of incumbrance whatsoever, except the yearly rents and taxes thereon hereafter becoming due and payable to the States, and the said Theophilus Williams doth hereby further covenant & engage to and with the said James Morris his heirs and assigns, that he the said Theophilus Williams at the time of sealing & delivering of these presents, is the sole and lawfull owner of the said one hundred acres of land and premises hereby bargained & sold & hath in himself good right full power and lawfull authority to sell and convey the same to the said James Morris in manner and form aforesaid, and the said Theophilus Williams doth for himself his heirs executors & administrators further covenant & engage to and with the said James Morris his heirs executors & administrators & assigns shall and may from time to time & at all times forever hereafter by force & virtue of these presents lawfully peacebly & quietly have hold use occupie possess and enjoy all and singular the said one hundred acres of land and premises hereby bargained and sold, and further that he the said Theophilus Williams his heirs exrs. & administrators shall and will forever hereafter warrent, secure and defend the said James Morris his heirs and assigns in the peaceble possession of the said one hundred acres of land and premises from and against him the said Theophilus Williams his heirs exrs. & administrators & from and against allo and every other person or persons whatsoever laying any lawfull claim to the same or to any part or parcel thereof. In witness whereof the said Theophilus WIlliams hath hereunto set his hand and fixed his seal the day & date first above written. Theophilus Williams Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of W.
