Deed Book 3, pp113-4) Stephen Williams Junr to William Barns This Indenture made this the first of February And in the thirty third year of the Reign of Our Sovereign lord George the Second By the grace of God of great Brittain France and Ireland King defender of the Faith &c Sheweth greeting Between Stephen Williams Junior of Onslow County and Province of North Carolina Planter of the One Part William Barns of Duplin County and Province of aforesaid of the other Part Gentleman Witnesseth that I Stephen Williams for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy Five Pounds proclamation money to me in hand paid before the ensigning of these Presents well and truly made to me By William Barns aforesaid the Receipt thereof I as hereby acknowledged my self therewith fully satisfied Contented and Paid thereof and every part and Parcel thereof do freely fully and give grant bargain sell Convey and Confirm Exonerate and discharge the said William Barns his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever By force, and virtue of the presents do freely and fully and absolutely give grant Bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto him the said William Barns his heirs and assigns forever A certain Messuage tract of land and Plantation situate lying and being in Duplin county And Province of North Carolina on the south side of Burn Coat Swamp, Beginning at a red Oak thence South 25 East 160 poles to a pine thence North 65 East to marked Pine standing near the head of the line Branch from thence down the said Branch to Burn coat swamp and South down the Courses as the swamp to the first Station Containing by estimation Three Hundred acres be the same more or less Being part of a tract of land that was granted to Anthony Williams Containing Six hundred and forty acres as By the Patent may appear which was granted unto the said Anthony Williams Bearing date the 25 day of September anno domini Seventeen hundred and forty three 1743 and he the said Anthony Williams gave the aforesaid part of said tract of land as aforesaid to his son Stephen Williams Aforesaid Being the manor Plantation the aforesaid Anthony Williams formerly lived on To Have and to Hold the Aforesaid prebargained premises with all Houses orchards Barns Stables nurserys Pastures and Pasture grounds timber and Timber trees Water and Water Courses with all the other Priviledges profits and appurtenances thereunto Belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said William Barns his Heirs Executors administrators And assigns forever to his and their own proper use Benefit and Behoof forever and that before the ensealing and Delivery of these Over Page 114. Presents that I the aforesaid Stephen Williams am and is the true and lawful Owner of the above Plantation And lands With all the appurtenances thereunto Belonging and that I am lawfully Seized and Possessed of the same and that I have good Right and lawfull authority to sell and the same to the aforesaid William Barns his heirs and assigns forever and further I convenant promise and agree to and with the said William Barns His heirs and assigns that I will from time to time and at all times Warrant and Defend the aforesaid Bargained and Demised premises from me my heirs Executors administrators or assigns Forever and from all persons Whatsoever freely and Clearly from all former Rights Bargains mortgages Wills sales entails or any Other Incumbrances whatsoever that Has may or shall come against the said lands aforesaid Except the Quit Rents that shall come from the date of these Presents become due to the Crown and that the said William Barns his heirs Executors administrators or assigns may from time to time and at all times forever Hereafter By Force and Virtue of these presents Have Hold occupy use Possess and Enjoy the aforesaid Demised premises promised forever hereafter in lawfull Quiet and Peaceful Possession with all the priviledges profits and appurtenances thereunto Belonging as witness Whereas I the said Stephen Williams Junior has hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this the day and year above mentioned and in the Year of Our lord Anno domini One Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty 1760 Signed Sealed and Delivered } In the presence of } James Howard } his } Stephen Williams Junr {Seal} Lawrence X Hall } mark } Mason Cox } his } John X Williams } mark } The Within Deed from Stephen Williams to William Barns Containing Three Hundred acres of land was proven in Open Court By the Oath of John Williams and Ordered to be Registered.
