(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 12 Page 112 Stephen Herring to William Chestnut Deed 131 acres This Indenture made this 18th day of July 1839 between Stephen Herring of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina of the one part and William Chesnutt of the same County and State of the other part Witnesseth that the said Stephen Herring for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred dollars to him in hand paid doth bargain and sell and does hereby make over to the said William Chesnutt a certain tract of parcil of Land lying and being in the above mentioned County Begining at a white oake the first corner in the last lot and runs thence tt Et 320 poles to a pine thence No 45 wt 350 poles to a gum on the Run of the mill branch thence down the Run to the begining containing one hundred and thirty one acres be the same more or Less In testimony whereof I have hereby sett my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above written signed sealed and delivered in presence of Stephen Herring A. T. Stanford Kedar Bryan State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of please & Quarter Sessions October term 1839 The Execution of the within deed is duly proved in open Court by the oath of Alesr T.
