(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 170, 171, & 172 Solomon Cox To Samuel Sowell Deed 200 acres This Indenture made the twentieth Day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred & Eighty Eight Between Soloman Cox of the State of No. Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and Samuel Sowell of the said State and County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that he the said Soloman Cox for and in consideration of the sum of one Hundred pounds to Him the said Soloman Cox in hand paid the Receipt whereof he Doth hereby acknowledged hath given bargained and sold and by these presents Doth give grant sell alienate and confirm unto him the said Samuel Sowel him his heirs and assigns forever one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing 200 acres of Land lying and being in the County of Duplin on the No. side of the Bever Dam of Limestone joining Thomas Quinns Land. Begining at a Maple on the Run of the swamp and Runs No. 26 Et. 60 pole to a pine in Quins line thence with his line SOuth 34 Et. 116 poles crossing the White oak Branch To a white oak Quinns Corner Thence with his other line No. 20 Et. 40 poles to a pine thence with their Dividing line No. 70 Et. 100 poles to a pine thence So. 30 Et. 53 poles crossing the Road to a pine thence So. 20 Wt. 220 poles to a stake in said swamp thence up the swamp to the Beging. To have and to hold the said Tract of Land and appurtainances with all and singular the previledges and appurtainances Thereunto belonging to him the said Samuel Sowel his Heirs and assigns forever. To his and their only proper use and Benefit forever and the said Soloman Cox for me My Heirs and assigns Do covenant and grant to and with the said Samuel Sowel his Heirs and assigns forever that before the Ensealing hereof I am the true and Lawfull owner of the above bargained premises I am Lawfully depost therewith any own proper right as a good Citizen of Inheritance In full and Have in myself good Right full full power and Lawfull Authority. To grant Bargain sell and confirm the said Bargained premises in Manner above said and the said Samuel Sowel his Heirs Admrs. and assigns shall and may From time to time and forever hereafter by full virtue of these presents Lawfully and peaceably have use possess and enjoy the said Demised premises as with the appurtainances free and clear and freely and clearlly of all and all manner acquited of all and allmanner and other gifts bargains sails Leases mortgages wills intails jointures rents Excrs. Incumberances extents Further more the said Soloman Cox for myself my Heirs Excrs. admrs. do covenant and engage the above demised premises to him the said Samuel Sowel his Heirs and assigns against the Lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons I do hereunto Warrant and defend the same In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this Day and year above written. signed sealed and Delivered Soloman Cox In presence of us Joseph T.
