(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book E Page 270, 271, 272, & 273 Solomon Beesly To James Dickson Deed 450 acres This Indenture made this Twenty ninth day of December in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty Eight. And in the Thirteenth year of American Indepence. Between Solomon Beesly of the state of North Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part, and James Dickson of the same state and County of the other part. Witnesseth, That for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and twenty pounds currency of said state in hand well and truly paid befor the ensealing and Delivery of these presents The Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Hath by these presents given granted bargained sold assigned and set over and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell assign & set over to unto James Dickson aforesaid one certain Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on both sides of Maxwell swamp and both sides of Reedy Meadow or John Matchets branch Including the plantation whereon the said Solomon Beesly now Lives. Being part of six Diferent surveys. Begining at a pine on the edge of Reedy Meadow runs Thence North 20 Wt. 76 poles to a blackjack, thence So. 76 Wt. 56 poles to a gum in a branch, thence down said Branch as it meanders So. 80 Wt. 36 pole to a Maple in the swamp edge, Thence crossing Maxwell swamp So. 76 Wt. 36 poles to a pine post, thence John Waters's line formerly Alexander Armstrongs line, North 25 Wt. 48 pole to a pine then No. 27 pole to a black jack Stephen Rodgers's corner Thence along his line crossing the swamp Et. 166 pole to a pine, thence his other line No. 130 pole to a pine then So. 50 Et. 42 pole to a stake, Thence No. 30 Et. 78 pole to a pine sapling thence No. 60 Wt. 32 pole to a pine and Hickory Thence north 51 Et. 110 pole to Two pines, thence So. 39 Et. 226 pole to four Black Jacks Thence So. 51 Wt. 60 pole to a pine the third corner of Matchets survey of one Hundred and fifty acre survey, thence along a line of Land Patened by Joseph Dickson So. 50 East 50 to a Poplar in a Branch thence So. 40 Wt. 168 pole to a pine James Heaths corner on Matchests Paten line or one Hundred and fifty acres, Thence said old line So. 40 Wt. to the run of Little Reedy Meadow Thence down the Run of said Branch with James Heaths line to the Mouth of Reedy and Down main Reedy Meadow to the Begining. Containing by Estimation four hundred and Fifty acres be the same more or Less. To have and to hold to him the said James Dickson his heirs and assigns forever. The above bargained four hundred and fifty acres of Land and premises with all the previledges to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining. Free and clear of all Incumbrance given or granted by him the said Solomon Beesly, and the said James Dickson the above granted four Hundred and fifty acres shall and may from time to time and at all times hereafter have hold use occupy possess and enjoy as his own free and Lawfull Inheritance, and the said Solomon Beesly for himself his heirs Executors administrators and assigns shall and will warrant secure and forever Defend the said Land and premises with all their appurtainances to him the said James Dickson his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever. In witness whereof the said Solomon Beesly hath hereunto set his hand and fixed his seal this twenty ninth day of December one thousand seven Hundred and eighty eight. signed sealed and Delivered In the presence of us Solomon Beesly Joseph Dickson James Rogers State of No. Carolina Duplin County July Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved In open Court by the oath of Joseph Dickson and ordered to be Registered.
