I do hereby acknowledge all my Right, Title and Interest of this within
deed to Thomas PATTERSON.

Simon WEST
To all people to whom these presents shall come know ye that I Simon
WEST of the County of Duplin and Province aforesaid of NC Greetings Know ye that
I the said Simon WEST for and in consideration of the sum of eleven pounds
proclamation money to me I hand paid by Thomas PATTERSON of the County
and Province aforesaid merchant the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
and myself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid and have given
granted bargained sold and conveyed enfeoffed confirmed assigned and set over
unto the said Thomas PATTERSON his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract
or parcel of land containing one hundred and eighty acres laying and being
in the county of Duplin and on the east side of Great Cohary on Balls Mill
Swamp beginning at a pine on the side of a swamp and runs S80 W180 poles
to a pine thence N10 W180 poles then N80 E140 poles to a Sweet Gum at the
run in the Mill Swamp thence up the run as it meanders to the beginning it
being a tract of land that was granted to the same by patent bearing date 20
September 1766. To have and to hold the said parcel of land together
with all houses orchards gardens fencing timber and trees thereon standing
lying or growing with all woods waters Rivers with all profits commodities and
hereditaments unto the same belonging or in any manner of ways
appertaining unto him the said Thomas PATTERSON his heirs and assigns forever and I
the said Simon WEST for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth
covenant grant promise and agree to and with the said Thomas PATTERSON
his heirs and assigns in manner following that is to say that the Simon WEST
at the ensealing and delivery of these presents hath a good sufficient
Right and title and estate of inheritance in the premises in fee simple and
hath full power and lawful authority to bargain and sell the land in manner
aforesaid unto the said Thomas PATTERSON his heirs and assigns forever.
And the said Simon WEST for himself his heirs executors administrators doth
further promise and warrant that the said land and premises are free
from the lawful claims or demands of any person whatsoever and the same will
warrant secure and forever defend unto the said Thomas PATTERSON his
heirs and assigns forever the Quit Rents to His Majesty excepted.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 12th day of
November 1767.
